Corn Bread

¾ c corn meal
1 c flour
1/3 c sugar
3 t baking powder
¾ t salt
1 c milk
1 egg beaten
2 T shortening

Sift together dry ingredients. Mix in milk, egg and shortening. Bake in buttered 8 inch pan for 15-20 mins at 425 degrees.
